Our skipper asked me to investigate a large, stationary bait ball.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA few minutes later, excited calls from the boat directed me towards a whale shark. I followed as it swam around the bait fish.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThen it began to dive. I took a breath and followed. As we moved through the thick bait ball, the light faded until I could barely make out the shark’s tail.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAs the whale shark descended through the fish, they moved around its body, creating a tunnel.
