Starry night
Description
Whale Shark researchers use a computer technology developed by NASA that maps constellations in the sky to assist them with identifying individual Whale Sharks.
Each Whale shark is decorated with their own individual spot pattern.
The algorithm created by NASA assists them with matching pictures with those of previously photographed individuals to increase understanding of population and movement of this illusive species.
Although this image is not of the identifiable area generally used in this research. I believe Whale sharks patterns when viewed from above as they swim through the deep dark ocean, almost resemble that of stars in the night sky.
